Friday, 11 April 2008

We have had many clients having issues opening documents created in the newer MS Office 2007.

This update for MS-Office 2003 will allow you to open, edit and save 2007 format documents.

Brief Description
Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007.

Overview

Users of the Microsoft Office XP and 2003 programs Word, Excel, or PowerPoint—please install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Compatibility Pack.

By installing the Compatibility Pack in addition to Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003, you will be able to open, edit, and save files using the file formats new to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. The Compatibility Pack can also be used in conjunction with the Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003, Excel Viewer 2003, and PowerPoint Viewer 2003 to view files saved in these new formats. For more information about the Compatibility Pack, see Knowledge Base article 924074.

Note: If you use Microsoft Word 2000 or Microsoft Word 2002 to read or write documents containing complex scripts, please see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925451 for information to enable Word 2007 documents to be displayed correctly in your version of Word.

Administrators: The administrative template for the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint converters contained within the Compatibility Pack is available for download.

'Free' broadband proves unsatisfactory

15:15, Jul 4th 2007 by Scott Bicheno

Hi Abbie

A USwitch survey puts Orange and TalkTalk bottom for customer service

Broadband companies may be ‘talking the talk’, but have yet to ‘walk the walk’, according to the  latest home phone and broadband Customer Satisfaction Report, announced by uSwitch.com.

The  UK’s  most comprehensive  report  into  customer  satisfaction,  based  on  responses  from  nearly  9,000 home  phone  and  nearly  11,000  broadband  customers shows  that, despite  promises  from companies that things are on the up, customers have yet to see any signs of improvement.

In  fact, while home phone customer satisfaction  is up by 4 per cent, broadband satisfaction has continued to plummet and for the first time, a quarter of customers are not satisfied with their broadband provider.

Plusnet, having experienced a severe drop of 16 per cent last year following a raft of service issues, has sprung back to take top position in the broadband survey, with a 78 per cent satisfaction level.

Orange and TalkTalk, together owning 14 per cent of the market with over 2
million customers, have failed to pull themselves out of the bottom two spots in the league.

Orange comes last for the second time running with just 65% of customers satisfied, having seen its satisfaction rating drop 18 per cent over the last 14 months - uncannily around the same time  that  it  launched  ‘free’  broadband.

Meanwhile, TalkTalk has yet to reap the rewards of its £15 million investment into customer service. Just 69 per cent of its customers are satisfied. The  performance  of both companies suggests tha  ‘free’ does not necessarily ensure happiness, as the  customers paying fo  their broadband appear to be happier than the ones who are not.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to visit us at Optrafair.  The show exceeded our best expectations and we are working hard now to get full quotations and proposals to everyone who made enquires.  Internet CCTV proved very popular, so we will be adding product info onto the website later this week.

The Fujitsu-Siemens internet laptop range also caused a sensation, great news for those of you who wanted one - there will be a budget solution available soon, a standard size laptop similar to the Amilo Pro we had on the stand, but with embedded UTMS.  We will also have an arrangement in place for a budget always connected G3 package to go with the new machine, details will be announced here when we have more info.

A big thank you must also go out to all of you who visited us and placed orders for servers and workstations.  Site surveys have already been booked for most of these, if you have not heard from us yet, you will in the next few days.  In order to ensure the highest quality of client service we are aiming to stagger installations to fit in with your software provider and to ensure that no installation is rushed.

And finally a big thank you to our fellow exhibitors who made us feel so welcome at our first Optrafair.

New SIBIT website design PDF Print E-mail
Written by Simon Butterworth
Wednesday, 17 January 2007
We have had several enquires from Opticans looking for dynamic websites.  Investigating this area it struck us that the sites would need to have a few unusual features, the ability to increase the font size for those patients who find it hard to read normal sized text and possibly the ability to even change the colour scheme for those patients who have issues with colours.  The new SIBIT website incororates these feaures (top right) by all means click the buttons and let us know what you think.
